Abandoned hotel, 2014.
A diner almost anywhere, 2013
From a long necked Madonna at the edge of a frame
to the faces I gleam glances of life from as their features crack,
skin akin to the top of a well-cooked Crème brûlée
delicately dividing, yielding at the tap of an excited spoon—
I smile as your eyes
And while the smell of cherry cough drops
might put my thoughts in a passenger seat
on an highway after midnight,
the way you nod your head when humming to yourself
lets me climb out through those chemical ghosts,
in that mental metal roof on route 17,
and instead send roots into the tiles of the kitchen floors
our bare-footed souls bared their souls on.
night crawlers, photographs through my bedroom window, 2014.
You know what it is outside my window right now— really flippin’ bright.
Resurface, reflections on my bedroom window, 2014.
